Of these schools, few offer hybrid online JD programs that combine online courses with on-campus components. There are also law schools that offer JD degrees entirely online, but none are approved by the ABA. Why are there no comprehensive programs online? This goes back to the ABA`s initial hesitation to allow more credits online. According to the school`s website, the hybrid program is just as strict as the JD housing program. The hybrid option is designed to make syracuse`s program accessible to students who cannot attend classes on campus due to work or family commitments. A hybrid JD program allows students to complete the majority of their online courses and complete the lesson portion of their studies during multiple concentrated stays on campus, which typically last several days. Upon completion of these ABA-accredited programs, graduates receive the same degree they would have earned in an on-campus legal program and qualify for the bar exam. Launched in the fall of 2019, the UNH program is the first hybrid legal option with a very specific focus: intellectual property, technology and information rights. Therefore, when looking for JD degree programs, it is imperative to confirm that they are all ABA accredited and that you are eligible to take the bar exam. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii filed petitions with the American Bar Association this month to change the content of the gaps to establish part-time hybrid distance learning JD programs.
